Essex Team v Friends of Kent - 3rd September 2011
Friends of Kent played the return match against an Essex team at East Hanningfield, where we played 8 sessions of triples on 4 mats.
In the first session Friends got off to a bad start only winning one mat. Essex 6 points (38 shots), Friends 2 points (20 shots).

The next two sessions went the same as the first session only winning one mat in each session. Essex 18 points (104 shots), Friends 6 points (66 shots).

In the fourth session Friends did a little better winning one and drawing one mat. Essex 23 points (141 shots) Friends 9 points (87 shots).

In the next two sessions Friends only won one mat in each session. Essex 33 points (187 shots), Friends 13 points (106 shots).

In the last two sessions Friends won 3 mats in each session, but it was a little too late. The only thing Friends did was make the score a bit more respectable. The final score was Essex 39 points (227 shots), Friends of Kent 25 points (181 shots).

Even though Friends lost the match everyone enjoyed the days bowling and we look forward to the return matches next year.

Stoneyhill Essex v Friends of Kent - 14th August 2011
Friends of Kent played the return match against Stoneyhill, playing 8 sessions of triples on 6 mats.
The first session started badly for FOK, only winning 2 mats. Stoneyhill 8 points (46 shots) FOK 4 points (28 shots).
In the second session FOK won 4 mats to even the score. Stoneyhill 12 points (85 shots) FOK 12 points (78 shots).
In the third session Stoneyhill just edged it with FOK winning 2 and drawing 1 mat. Stoneyhill 19 points (135 shots) FOK 17 points (112 shots).
The fourth session went FOK’s way, winning 3 and drawing 1 mat. Stoneyhill 24 points (168 shots) FOK 24 points (152 shots).
So at the halfway stage it was even points.
In the fifth session Stoneyhill got away again with FOK winning 1 and drawing 3 mats. Stoneyhill 31 points (222 shots) FOK 29 points (197 shots).
In the sixth session FOK got their noses in front for the first time winning 4 and drawing 1 mat. Stoneyhill 34 points (247 shots) FOK 38 points (255 shots).

In the seventh session FOK extended their lead by winning 3 and drawing 1 mat. Stoneyhill 39 points (285 shots) FOK 45 points (294 shots).

FOK carried on their winning ways in the last session by winning 4 mats. The final score was Stoneyhill 43 points (326 shots) Friends of Kent 53 points (329 shots).

The match could have gone either way as there were some very close games, as you can see from the shot difference. Stoneyhill kept it close in the morning sessions but Friends of Kent had the best of the afternoon sessions. Everyone is looking forward to the return matches in 2012.

Friends of Kent v Essex - 30th July 2011
The annual match between Friends of Kent and an Essex Team was held at Snodland this year.
We played 8 sessions of triples on 6 mats.
Friends of Kent got off to a good start in the first session winning 4 mats. FOK 8 points (50 shots), Essex 4 points (34 shots).
The second session was even better, FOK winning 5 mats. FOK 18 points (98 shots), Essex 6 points (69 shots).
The third session was tied winning 3 mats each. FOK 24 points (139 shots), Essex 12 points (112 shots).
In the fourth session FOK won 4 mats. FOK 32 points (182 shots), Essex 16 points (149 shots).
At the halfway stage I thought we had got the match in the bag but how wrong can you be because Essex made a spirited fight back in the second half.

In the fifth session we won 3 mats each. FOK 38 points (226 shots), Essex 22 points (193 shots).

The sixth session went the same as the last session winning 3 mats each. FOK 44 points (270 shots), Essex 28 points (237 shots)

The next two sessions were the only sessions that Essex won, so in the seventh session Kent only won 2 mats. FOK 48 points (310), Essex 36 points (277 shots).

Going into the last session Essex had to win all the mats to draw and they nearly did it by winning 5 mats. The final score was Friends of Kent 50 points (348 shots), Essex 46 points (327 shots).

Essex must have enjoyed the match so much they want a return match in September.
